ONCE A KING, NOW A PRINCE

Thank you sincerely for stopping by. I am genuinely flattered that you have taken the time to learn more about my book, a celebrity memoir entitled “Once A King, Now A Prince,” as well as my rather unique life. “Once A King, Now A Prince” is a book about family dysfunction and an accurate tale of  “the mob, sex, drugs, and Rock and Roll.” It is a non-fiction book that is unique, startling, and sometimes heartbreaking, featuring stories about many of the rock and roll greats I represented, as well as a celebrity life lived in a truly remarkable way. What makes my life and the story I have told in this rock n roll memoir more unique than the lives of others? It is the combination of growing up in a highly dysfunctional family and an extremely abusive environment.  Then, as an adult, and not without danger and failure, I founded one of the most successful rock and roll music agencies in the world, American Talent International, among many of famous American celebrity bands, was personally responsible for importing half of the British rock and roll bands coming to America in the 1960s and 1970s.

Ira Blacker, age 4

“Once A King, Now A Prince”, is a non-fiction book that tells the story of a severely abused child, whose father convinced him of his being evil, to the point of looking in mirrors and, upon seeing his extra-long incisors, thought he looked like a devil. His self-image, to survive this, with what little tools any small child has, was that at least he was “the king of the devils,” hence the title “Once A King.”

I am sure many readers of this memoir will be able to emphatically state that they, too, have grown up under similar circumstances. Still, not many can say that their life also went on to become one filled with glitz, glamour, and rock and roll music, with all the trappings of celebrity the music business affords.

The autobiography continues with my experiences at school, the draft, and my efforts to avoid it, as well as my ventures in the rock and roll music business leading up to graduation. Finally, upon graduation, I was “made an offer I couldn’t refuse.” This offer was a double entendre in that it was for a major music business Agency headed by a former major mobster who was part of the Capone gang. This part explains the subtitling of my memoir, “The True Tale of Family Dysfunction, the Mob, sex, drugs and Rock and Roll.’ The book continues with my success as depicted by walking into Elaine’s in New York City, with my client, Rod Stewart, and seeing all heads turn, to walking into a rock and roll industry event and hearing one attendee whisper to another, “hey, that’s Ira Blacker.”

WHY SHOULD I READ THIS CELEBRITY MEMOIR?

You may then ask, “Why should I read the non fiction, ‘Once A King, Now A Prince?” I am glad you did ask, as there are three basic levels of interest that you may find enjoyable in reading my memoir and even benefit from, as I have outlined a parenting guide of “what not to do when raising children.” The human interest and dysfunctional family parenting aspect, therefore, would be one reason. I guarantee you that if you lived similarly, it would bring you to tears, as you may empathize with this non-fiction story; if not, it will shock you with its narrative. Another reason is the danger from the mobsters whom I worked for or with, and a couple of made mob guys who even wanted to kill me. Lastly, if you are a fan of the hit TV show TMZ, you will get an inside look at some of the celebrities of the rock and roll music business and what it’s like to work and play with them.

THE POTENTIAL AUDIENCE FOR ONCE A KING, NOW A PRINCE

This non-fiction book is suitable for all adults. Family dysfunction and celebrity are universal, and the era of Rock & Roll I write about features many of these artists still on tour with audiences of all ages. Rod Stewart is one example and continues to fill concert halls.
